St Brides - August 2010
Arriving in the serene surroundings of the camp site we were told to set up camp in the next field to the main camping field, this field was away from the rest of the campers and I mean away, yes, wisely far far away, anyway the we set up camp and admired our handy work at erecting our accommodation for the next 2 nights.
The next move was to find food in the guise of pub food and finding the pub was not so easy, Nigel turning left at every turn, I don’t normally feel sea sick but then it was Nigel driving. After a good feeding with copious amounts of alcohol we returned to the confines of our peaceful camp site only to have it disturbed by the arrival of our organiser Ian, it was not long before I realised that I would be residing in what can only be regarded as the naughty tent, a name that is not totally my fault, just remember Ian and Dave were in there with me. Evening drinks were soon flowing and we drank well into the night.
Saturday morning: diving day
Setting out to a place somewhere in West Wales (I think any way) to dive on what can only be regarded as a beautiful summers day, calm sea and the tide all the way out, we kitted up and set out for our first dive of the day, the dives were nice with reasonable visibility and diving to around 9 to 10 meters, returning to pass out surface interval sun bathing in glorious sunshine.
By the time we were ready for the second dive the tide was high and entry was far easier.
After the dives we returned to the campsite for an evening of culture (NOT) rounders with a sock on the bat was so much fun, (if any one would like to claim the sock please see Steve).
The barbeques were lit and the alcohol started to flow, more so for some (not mentioning you Pill, who was I must say was in fine voice) the night ended with over 20 drunk divers sitting around in a circle singing or at least tying to sing.
Settling down to sleep in the naughty tent I could here Ian inviting Nigel to meet him over the other side of the field with Ian singing Delilah so that Nigel could find him.
Sunday morning we were aroused by singing (there was Phil, Phil feeling rather ill in the stores) and then promptly the singing twosome left the site. (You know who you are)
The weekend proved to be very successful and great thanks is extended to Ian for organising a fantastic trip.
